Boys Varsity Wrestling · What’s going on with West Wrestling?

So many good things!

The high school team is off to a great start this summer. We have about 20 guys attending summer practices regularly and have done very well at our first two summer tournaments. This week we will be traveling to New Orleans for the Jazz Town Duals at Xavier University. On day one, we will be in a six team pool where each team represents a different state. We will follow up the Jazz Town Duals tournament with a week long team camp at UTC Chattanooga June 21st through 25th to close out our summer season.

Last week was an outstanding week for our youth and middle school wrestling programs as well. On June 6-8th, the varsity wrestling team hosted a Jr. Wolverine Camp for all K-8th grade wrestlers and we had around sixteen young men signed up on all three days. The camp consisted of technique sessions, live wrestling, and competitive games. The team had a blast working with the younger guys and getting them ready to carry the torch as future varsity wrestlers for the West program.

While some of our youth and middle school wrestlers were at our Jr. Wolverine Camp last week, West had others out toeing the line against opponents from all over the nation. Rising 7th graders Rylan Ibold and Drew Gorman made Team Georgia’s National team and both went 6-2 in Freestyle at Schoolboy Nationals last weekend in Indianapolis, IN.
Noah Danforth, also a rising 7th grader and future wolverine, was out in St. Louis all week at a Purler Wrestling system Takedown Machine Camp. He has been training for a couple national level tournaments coming up this summer as well.

The future looks bright for West Wrestling!
