Chris Roy is in his 8th season as Head Varsity Boys Golf Coach at West Forsyth High School. In the Spring of 2010, Coach Roy took over the Golf Program and has steadily built it each year. In 2012, led by Senior Golfer Walker Slaton, the Wolverine Program got its first exposure to playoff competition. Slaton qualified for the GHSA AAAAA State Championships as an individual and went to Augusta to represent West Forsyth. Despite the loss of Slaton after the 2012 season, the program continued to move forward. In 2014, West had a good regular season and for the first time in school history, advanced out of Region 6-AAAAAA competition, into the playoffs. The Wolverines qualified to compete in the GHSA State Sectionals tournament at Georgia National Golf Club in McDonough. In the Sectionals, the Wolverines compiled a team score of 320, which was good enough to advance to the GHSA State Championships at Champions Retreat Golf Club in Augusta. At the State Championships, the Wolverines saved their best play for the right time. West was led by All State Junior Robert Shaw and shot a team score of 317 to finish 7th in the state. In 2015, the Wolverines posted the best season in school history. West won the prestigious Packer Invitational in Moultrie over 26 other teams, firing a team score of 305 and they also won the 2nd annual Forsyth County Championship at Laurel Springs. Led by a strong performance from Robert Shaw, Drew Ridings, Austin Amburgy, and Austin Jaynes, the team set a school scoring record of 298. The golf team also finished runner-up in 3 tournaments, the West Forsyth Wolverine Invitational, the West Hall Invitational, and the Coal Mountain Invitational. In postseason play, the Wolverines got better in each round of play from the Region Tournament(3rd) to the State Sectionals (4th) to the State Championships with a fantastic round of 310 to claim 4th place in the state.
Coach Roy is in his 19th year of coaching overall, including 18th year in basketball (6th year as Girls Basketball Varsity Assistant) and 3 years in cross country. This is his 13th year of teaching Physical Education, 10th at West Forsyth.
Coach Roy is happily married to Rhetta Roy, Social Studies Teacher at Lambert High School, and they have a 9 year old daughter named Riley Marie.
James Hallewell – Assistant Coach

Coach Hallewell is in his 2nd season with the Wolverine Golf Team. He has been a teacher at West Forsyth since 2007 and coached tennis for 8 years. An avid golfer, with lots of knowledge about the game, and the ability to teach made Hallewell an easy choice to fill the job for the 2016 season.
Coach Hallwell came to West from South Gwinnett High School in Snellville. He is happily married to his wife Meghan, and proud dad of Duncan (4) and Griffin (2).
